Upscale Restaurant -- Aqua Al 2 in DC -- pay a little more, get good meal like legal service

While it is not always the case, if after you receive a recommendation from a trusted friend or relative, and go to a new restaurant, and you learn that it cost a little more than you thought, still it was worth it, much like paying a little more than you thought for legal counsel.

My wife and I enjoy eating out, and, recently, we went to Aqua Al 2 in DC, an Italian restaurant (you can see the pattern here, looking at earlier posts, that I do like to frequent Italian restaurants).    This came about after speaking to my cousin, and getting a recommendation to visit.   The ambiance was very neuvo, and interesting, with plates written on by many of those famous and not so famous who have eaten there.   It reminded us of a place we ate at in Rome, Italy this summer -- La Carbonara.   We both had the special which was a pasta with sirloin beef sauce.   Deliciouso.   But, as I should have expected, the bill was a little higher than I thought it might be.   However, we enjoyed our time, and the meal, and the experience, and will return again.

Now, like the possible extra cost in hiring a lawyer, this unexpected event, was worth it.   You need to evaluate several factors to deterimine the benefit.   In the restaurant's case, the fact that the restaurant is located on Capitol Hill near the Eastern Market, should have clued me into the likely upscale $$$.   The meal was great and so was the service.

Some of these factors are to be used when evaluating counsel.  For instance, if you go to the "sidestreet" lawyer, you will likely get a lower price.   But, when you go "downtown" you need to expect to pay a little more, and should expect the service to be better.    And, service, may be difficult to determine, but is subjective, law is not a science, it has more artistic type value.

It should be thought that in many cases, the location of the attorney, and cost do mean you are being provided a better service, to a point.    And, the character of him or her is important too, this is an intangible.  So, just like I was a little surprised at the cost, the meal was great, and if you have paid a little more than you thought, and your legal experience was good, don't be upset, just understand that a people business, like restaurants or law you purchase the entire experience.  You are not just getting a product, but a professional service in the case of a lawyer.
