Super Bowl 2014

Super Bowl's are like appearing before an appellate court, you are at the place where law/football lore are made.  And, on occasion, where one side clobbers the other.   But, in any case, you need to be prepared for a good party and a good appellate argument.

This Super Bowl in 2014 in New Jersey was not much of a game, but the party for Zampogna, P.C. was fun despite the uncompetitive game.   Who knew?  You never know?

Interesting enough, like preparing for an appeal, you might think the chances are similar but learn that you knocked it out of the park.   In my early career as a prosecutor in the appeals bureau, after several years in the trenches of the trial courts, we never knew how the court might rule.   You need to prepare despite the likelihood of a successful outcome.  For instance, when we had appeals of sentencing by a judge.  Usually, you would be successful, but you never know, and being prepared for it made it that much more likely you would come out way ahead.   I guess this year, this is how the Seahawks prepared.    Defenses definitely win Super Bowls.

And, keeping with the food review, we had the event at St. Arnold's Abbey on Connecticut Ave, NW in DC.   A very fun venue to watch a game, with specialty Belgium Beers and Mussels but, in my case, I had Miller Light and habanero chicken wings.   I have to say, coming from Buffalo, the habanero wings were good, if you like picante food.   Everything was well prepared.

And, much like the uneventful game, this didn't matter to the party goers as you can see above.   We cheered and cheered with some having a triple beer from Chimay or others?  So, as you can see, the preparation of this party, and place, made it a fun outcome regardless.

Much like the game and party, you need to be sure you can have all the planning in place, the invites, the attendees, the food and drink, all were ready.  And, this made the difference, we barely knew the game was on.   And, when you argue before the court of appeals, if you are so prepared, you might not know you even had the game or argument of your life.

When its all over, you get the order from the court, and learn that you wasted your opponent as I had many times in the appellate division of the prosecutors office, never losing an appeal.   This like the game takes a lot of prep and then let it rip.   Maybe you can be the Seattle Seahawks of Super Bowl 2014 in your next appeal.
